Durham County Local History Society was formed in 1964 to promote interest in the study of the history of County Durham, which in recent centuries has played a major part in the economic and industrial growth of the United Kingdom.

The Society’s journal publishes research into historic County Durham’s contributions to the economic, social, religious and political development of the country. A range of journal articles relating to the history of County Durham and its people is available in our archive. Information about joining the Society is available on the membership page.
